Diabetes Education Programs at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic

Learn how to manage your diabetes, so you can live a happier, healthier lifestyle.

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic offers three outstanding education programs to help you manage your diabetes. Your healthcare provider may recommend these programs to you. Whether you participate in our Diabetes Education Classes or visit our Certified Diabetes Educators or Registered Dietitians, you’ll receive the information and motivation you need to lead a healthier lifestyle.

The Kelsey-Seybold Diabetes Management Program is a joint program of the Kelsey Research Foundation and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.

  1. Diabetes Education Classes

    Classes provide an overview of diabetes, monitoring blood sugars, taking medications, meal planning and exercising, and guidance to minimize or avoid diabetes-related complications, and help with motivation to make lifestyle changes.

    • A series of three classes lasting approximately two hours will be held during the first three weeks of each month.

    • You may start during any of the first three weeks of the month.

    • We strongly encourage you to attend all three classes.


    Diabetes Education Classes are offered at the following locations:

  2. Certified Diabetes Educators

    Certified Diabetes Educators (CDE’s) are healthcare professionals who specialize in the education and management of diabetes and are available to provide individualized educational counseling.

    CDE’s are located primarily at the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Main Campus, and at limited times at Clear Lake Clinic and Fort Bend Medical and Diagnostic Center. To schedule an appointment, call the Customer Service Contact Center at 713-442-0000.

  3. Registered Dietitians

    Registered Dietitians are healthcare professionals who provide individualized nutritional counseling.

    Registered Dietitians are primarily located at the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Main Campus and spend a limited amount of time at Fort Bend Medical and Diagnostic Center. To schedule an appointment, call the Customer Service Contact Center at 713-442-0000


    Who is eligible for these services?

  • All HMO’s cover diabetes education (Certified Diabetes Educators and Diabetes Education Classes) and visits with Registered Dietitians. A co-pay which varies by health plan is required for each Diabetes Education Class.

  • PPO and POS coverage varies. Ask your insurance company.

  • Medicare pays for diabetes education (Certified Diabetes Educators and Diabetes Education Classes) and visits with Registered Dietitians.
